I have been shooting for the last couple of years but prior to that I had no knowledge or experience of shooting sports. I didn’t realise how accessible shooting is, no matter your background!
My first experience of shooting was a lesson at Yorkgate Gun Club in Otley with Bob Agar back in 2014. Three years later I decided to send off for my shotgun certificate which I was granted at the Northern Shooting Show in 2017.
Since my certificate arrived I have been shooting most weekends with my Dad and Brother whom I introduced to the sport. My local shooting grounds are Hazel Bank, Thimbleby and Park Lodge. I have met some fantastic and very supportive people along the way and joined a great community of like minded people.
I have also had the pleasure of going pigeon shooting at local farms and sourcing my own food for the dinner table. I am passionate about promoting the sport and getting more people to try shooting for the first time.
In the future I hope to keep improving my scores on the clays and also have the opportunity to do some game shoots in Yorkshire. I also want to continue learning about how the sport helps support the conservation of our environment and wildlife.
During the week I work in Recruitment in the beautiful city of York but I always look forward to the weekend and being able to get out shooting!
